The fourth in our series of digital Q&As, created to support our business community during the COVID-19 pandemic, took place yesterday afternoon (20 May).
This week, we focused on rural issues brought about by the pandemic and asked the question: ‘What impact will Coronavirus have on our rural economy?’.
Our panel, chaired by radio presenter Howard Bentham, included:
- Michael Valenzia – South East Regional Director, CLA
- Matthew Rymer – Founder and Director, Happerley
- Nigel Tipple – Chief Executive, OxLEP
During this Q&A, our panel discussed the initial impact COVID-19 has had on the agricultural sector and rural community, the supportive measures that have been put in-place by Government for rural businesses and communities, as well as how the pandemic has added to pressures brought about via flooding, climate change and Brexit.
Our panel also discuss findings from a recent CLA report: 'Restarting the economy in rural areas'.
