One year on from our official COP26 roadshow event - in partnership with the Greater South East Net Zero Hub - 'The Billion Tonne Drop', we caught up with our very own Head of Innovation and Inward Investment, Sebastian Johnson, to reflect upon the event and what progress has been made by Oxfordshire's zero-carbon innovators in the last 12 months.
With truly 'world-class' potential in a number of key clean energy and sustainability sectors, 'The Billion Tonne Drop' highlighted how - with the right level of investment - Oxfordshire is poised to 'do more' to scale up within numerous key technologies and assets calling the county home. Over the past 12 months, acceleration has been visible locally within sectors such as: fusion energy, transport, storage, systems, CO2 removal, clean technology and innovation.
Sebastian reflects on some of the key developments of the last year and how key events such as OX to ZERO and Fusion22 play a key role in amplifying the 'Oxfordshire message', showcasing the county's continued commitment to the climate crisis and setting a precedent for how we can utilise our key strengths to pave the way to net-zero.
