Some of Oxfordshire's best businesses received top accolades last Friday (7 June) at the 2024 Oxfordshire Business Awards, held at the spectacular John Henry Brookes Building at Oxford Brookes University in Headington.
More than 450 businesspeople were in attendance with winners revealed across a total of 13 categories, including awards for emerging technology, green initiatives and purposeful business operations.
OxLEP once again supported this year's New Business category which was open to any Oxfordshire-based business that started trading after 1 January 2021, with this year’s finalists being Wild Bioscience, Lumai and Ultimate Renewables Supplies.
Wild Bioscience were announced as category winners on the night.
All entrants for the category were judged against a pre-determined set of criteria including; how the start-up was achieved, how effectively the business has operated in-light of the pandemic – given it launched during the Covid-19 outbreak – the strength and stability of the business, as well as plans for growth, including workforce development and possible opportunities for young people within the business.
Since the Oxfordshire Business Awards began in 1994, they have recognised the achievements of thousands of Oxfordshire businesses.
This year's dinner was hosted by comedian and Oxfordshire resident, Matt Richardson.
Nigel Tipple – Chief Executive of OxLEP – said: “Recognising new business efforts and achievements in Oxfordshire is so important – we were therefore delighted to once again support this year’s Oxfordshire Business Awards new business category and pay tribute to all three finalists – and indeed all new businesses in the county – and commend their collective desire and determination.”
Oxfordshire Business Awards Chairman, Paul Lowe, added: “Congratulations to the winners, finalists, and to all who entered the Oxfordshire Business Awards, we hope you all enjoyed celebrating the success and achievements of the Oxfordshire business community.
“For 28 years, OXBA has recognised and celebrated impactful businesses and individuals across the county. The OXBA honours those who contribute to making Oxfordshire a vibrant place to live and work.”
