On Wednesday 4 September, we will be launching the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy at our 2018/19 Annual Review Event, at the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford.
The Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy sets out a highly-ambitious vision, pitching how the county can sit at the forefront of a future globally-facing UK economy and be of real significance locally, nationally and globally.
A key underpinning aspect of the strategy is 'placemaking', with the aim of not just creating more prosperous communities locally, but also ensuring Oxfordshire delivers for the UK, through the assets and industries we excel in and which allow us to position the county as one of the top-three global innovation ecosystems.
No other part of the UK has the same sector assets, knowledge capability, skills and business capacity we hold here in Oxfordshire- making it a leading location for investment nationally and a critical driver for UK economic growth post- Brexit.
'Placemaking' also forms the focus of discussion at our next business-facing Q&A event, where we will be looking further at ‘Placemaking in Oxfordshire – what does it really mean?'
Taking place on Tuesday 24 September at the Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD) in Oxford, our panel of business leaders will be discussing some of the challenges we face if we are to achieve the ambitions around this topic as set out by the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy, such as how the county can retain its character whilst seizing 21st century opportunities for our businesses and communities.
