Harnessing over 30 years of experience, catering company Absolute Taste from Bicester, is in poll position to provide free meals to Britain’s healthcare workers through a scheme called salutethenhs.org.
Absolute Taste has a long list of prestigious clients including The McLaren Technology Centre. Owner Nigel Harris has co-founded salutethenhs.org with former McLaren boss Ron Dennis to make being at the epicentre more bearable for NHS staff by providing food parcels.
This could be through the ‘Boost’ Energy Pack to be consumed during the working shift and takes away the stress of getting food when at the hospital; the ‘Boost’ Meal Pack, a delicious and nutritious meal without the effort of shopping and cooking; or a ‘Boost’ Home Pack, a home delivery for NHS staff who have been infected and are in isolation.
While the model for making and distributing the meals has been built around feeding healthcare workers at the John Radcliffe, part of the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust, there are no plans to put the brakes on this initiative. Indeed, salutethenhs.org intends to deliver 1,000,000 meals in 3 months.
It seems fitting that Absolute Taste, which in ‘normal’ times contributes to making Oxfordshire one of the key drivers behind ‘UK PLC’ , is feeding into a national response to the current crisis.
Absolute Taste is one of many examples of how the Oxfordshire economy is well-positioned to react in a measured way to the challenges brought about by the Coronavirus (COVIS-19) pandemic.
