Small Business Saturday is an opportunity to celebrate and promote small businesses across the UK, with this year's awareness day taking place on Saturday 7 December.
Oxfordshire is one of the most successful areas in the country to set up a business, with 49.3% of the 2,790 new businesses created in Oxfordshire in 2011 still in operation in 2016 (ONS report - November 2017) and South Oxfordshire in particular holding one of the highest five-year ‘survival rates’ for SMEs anywhere in the UK (Nesta's 'State of Small Business' report - October 2017).
In this vlog, we preview how OxLEP Business can support SMEs within the county, with the Innovation Support for Business Programme, which supports Oxfordshire’s innovative entrepreneurs and SMEs, through assisting in the development and commercialisation of innovative business ideas, enhancing research and innovation infrastructure in the county.
Last month also saw the official launch of the eScalate programme at the OxLEP Business 'A celebration of our Journey and Future' event, with the programme aiming to support scale-ups and social enterprises within the county, through grant funding, one-to-one support and workshops.
