On Saturday 1 December, we will be celebrating Small Business Saturday. The scheme - which will be taking place up and down the UK - is an opportunity for everyone in Oxfordshire to get behind small businesses based in the county.
It is essential we understand and support our SME community, supporting them to succeed and grow. Small businesses floruish in Oxfordshire, with 49.3% of the 2,790 new businesses launched in Oxfordshire back in 2011 still in operation in 2016 (ONS report - November 2017)
One way in which small businesses can make the most of the resources available to them is by offering work experience opportunities and apprenticeships. It was recently announced in the 2018 autumn statement that the 10% training fee that small businesses must pay when they take on apprentices will be halved, offering further incentives for smaller non-levy paying businesses to make the most of this opportunity.
In our latest vlog, in which PR and Communications apprentice, Leona Weston, discusses the benefits to businesses of offering employment and skills opportunities.
