The Oxfordshire Energy Strategy lays out how the county can consume energy more efficiently and harness it for future generations, providing the building blocks for a stand-out low-carbon sector, whilst delivering emissions reduction targets in-line with local and national expectations.
A key priority of the Energy Strategy is to respond to the 'clean growth' grand challenge set out by the UK Industrial Strategy:
'We will maximise the advantages for UK industry from the global shift to clean growth – through leading the world in the development, manufacture and use of low carbon technologies, systems and services that cost less than high carbon alternatives.'
The grand challenges also underpin the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy, which includes ambitions for 'clean growth' projects, such as specialist living labs across the county, to pioneer new forms of locally-generated low carbon energy technologies and solutions, as well as the creation and implementation of the Energy Strategy itself.
