According to information from the Department for Transport, Oxford is one of the leading areas in the UK for electric car charge points, with 89 around the city as of November last year, placing the city in the top 20% of local authorities for electric car charge points in the UK.
As a county identified as having 'world-class' potential in a number of key sectors, the vision for Oxfordshire as set out by the county's Local Industrial Strategy is to be one of the top three global innovation ecosystems by 2040.
As the infrastructure required in order for the county to meet such ambitions continues to evolve, it is essential that Oxfordshire remains open to innovation and utilises new technologies in order to create 'future-proof' connectivity solutions.
This is further reiterated within the Oxfordshire Energy Strategy, which responds to the government's 'clean growth' grand challenge set out by the UK Industrial Strategy and recognises the major opportunities for the county, alongside a move to cleaner economic growth through low-carbon technologies and the efficient use of resources.
On Tuesday 28 January, we will be holding the next in our series of business Q&A events, this time with a focus on 'Connectivity in Oxfordshire - what does the future hold?', offering the opportunity to discuss some of the key themes of connectivity with a panel of the county's business leaders.
Connectivity is an underpinning theme of both the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy and UK Industrial Strategy, covering the physical, digital and economic infrastructure of the county and enabling a joined-up approach to the Five Foundations of Productivity: Ideas, People, Infrastructure, Business environment and Places.
