National Apprenticeship Week aims to highlight the exceptional work being done by employers and apprentices across the country. The 16th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships will take place between 6 - 12 February 2023. The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is 'Skills for Life'; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
Introduction to apprenticeships for parents and carers
This OxLEP Skills webinar aims to give parents/carers an insight into apprenticeships and equip them with information and resources to support their child (who is welcome to attend with them!) with choosing their next step.

Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2023
The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2023 will be open for entries and nominations throughout National Apprenticeship Week. With categories for current and former apprentices, employers, schools and training providers, the Awards is a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate apprenticeship success in Oxfordshire. The closing date is Friday 17 February at midnight.

Engineering Employer Open Evenings
6 - 9 February
Engineering Trust Training have arranged open evenings with four fantastic Oxfordshire engineering employers. Follow the link below for details of each session, including how to register.

JTL Oxford Open Day
6 February, 17:00-19:30
This open event is for anyone interested in starting an electrical or plumbing & heating apprenticeship and parents/carers of young people who would like to find out more about apprenticeships. The event is at Culham Science Centre, which is a secure site, so registration is essential.
UK Atomic Energy Authority Apprenticeship Open Evening
7 February, 16:30-19:35
During the evening, you will be able to find out what it’s really like to be an apprentice within the different specialisms at UKAEA and gain a real insight into the scheme by chatting to some of their current apprentices and staff. Please note these tours are only open for students to book onto, due to the limited availability. However, if there are cancellations or spare spaces on the evening, parents/carers will be able to join.
Activate Learning Employer Breakfast
8 February, 08:00-10:00
This event is for employers who are interested in employing apprentices or making best use of their apprenticeship levy. Our Skills Hub Manager will be speaking at the event and our Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Advisors will be on hand to give free, expert, impartial apprenticeship advice and support.

Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Apprenticeship Open Evening

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) offer a number of apprenticeships in different areas including mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, ICT, computing, business administration, heating and ventilation, carpentry, laboratory technician and more. At this apprenticeship open evening, you will be able to find out all about them discuss the opportunities with the apprenticeship team and current apprentices.
Oxfordshire Advanced Skills Apprenticeship Open Event

At this in person event, you can meet with OAS staff, current apprentices and employer partners to gain an insight into what it’s like to be an apprentice at Oxfordshire Advanced Skills. Places are limited and registration is essential.

Careers Fest Parent/Carer Twilight Session

OxLEP Skills will once again host the region's most anticipated and exciting careers event. This year we are at The Kassam Stadium and invite all parents/carers of students from Oxfordshire schools and colleges to come and meet the major players in the local labour market. This is an opportunity to meet a range of employers, further education colleges, universities and training providers. This year we will welcome over 3000 students and more than 70 exhibitors offering information, advice and guidance on future pathways and careers from a varied range of sectors.
