The seventh annual Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will once again shine a spotlight on our county’s Apprentices - and the businesses and organisations, training providers and schools that support their journey - recognising the huge contribution they make to our county’s economy at a special awards ceremony on Thursday 18 May 2023.
We're delighted to introduce Williams Racing as the venue sponsor for the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2023. We will be holding a celebration evening for finalists and sponsors at the iconic Williams Heritage Collection (pictured) following the virtual broadcast. Williams Racing is a British Formula One motor racing team and constructor, founded by former team owner Frank Williams and automotive engineer Patrick Head.
Here, Katie Light, Early Careers Programme Coordinator at Williams Racing, explains why they have chosen to support the awards and what Apprenticeships mean to them.
Why are you supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards?
Here at Williams, we see the value in every one of our Apprentices. We know that university isn’t the answer for everyone and doesn’t capture some of the top talent who we could be missing. The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards shines a light on those Apprentices and employers who are standing out from the crowd and leading the way which is something we care about.
What would you say to anyone thinking about entering or nominating?
We are proud of every one of our Apprentices and feel every one of you should be recognised for your achievements and hard work. In Formula One we always strive for winning and standing on that podium… and so should you!
Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships
We have a long history of employing Apprentices and seeing them grow within our company. Most of those who start the courses, end up obtaining their awards and staying on working within our factory or at the racetrack. Our Apprentices learn and grow during their time on the courses, embedding into the team and become integral members of the team.
We see Apprenticeships as excellent opportunities to find new talent, with practical learning and able to make a difference to the team from the off. In an industry where every second counts, that’s vital.
