The seventh annual Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will once again shine a spotlight on our county’s apprentices - and the businesses and organisations, training providers and schools that support their journey - recognising the huge contribution they make to our county’s economy at a special awards ceremony on Thursday 18 May 2023 at Williams F1 Conference Centre.
We're delighted to introduce Activate Apprenticeships as sponsor of the Apprenticeship Ambassador Award.
Here, Becky James, Director of Sales at Activate Apprenticeships, explains why they have chosen to sponsor this award and what apprenticeships mean to them.
Why are you supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards and why you have chosen to sponsor your particular category?
Activate Apprenticeships are proud to be supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards. As we are based in Oxfordshire, it was important for us as an organisation to recognise the apprentices and employers who do so much to support our local economy.
Activate Apprenticeships have chosen to sponsor the Apprenticeship Ambassador category, which recognises current apprentices who give up their time to visit students in schools and colleges to share their experience as apprentices to inspire the next generation. This is a new category and we are delighted to be the first sponsors. We are committed to ensuring that young people have an awareness of all the options available to them in the future, so supporting this category allows us to recognise those who go above and beyond to promote apprenticeships.
What are you looking for in the winner of your category?
Ideally our winner should demonstrate a real passion for apprenticeships and a desire to share their experience with the younger generation. Someone who can give an honest account of being an apprentice and talk confidently about why they have chosen an apprenticeship over other routes of study. The winner should be able to demonstrate how they have gone above and beyond to inspire the next generation, for example, have they used different approaches to sharing their story?
What would you say to anyone thinking about entering or nominating?
Go for it! It is important that we recognise the hard work of apprentices, particularly those who are sharing their experiences and encouraging others to go on to an apprenticeship.
