Storytelling: alternative approaches for human-centred evaluation

Storytelling can provide social purpose organisations with key learning and evaluation tools in the context of human-centred social change. When you are trying to create positive outcomes for individuals, a survey or a case study provide a very limited view of the change that has occurred. Join this webinar to find out how storytelling can support and complement your evaluation practices, to more meaningfully convey the impact of your work in the voices and words of the people involved.
Who is it for?
The webinar will be of interest to any social purpose organisation, particularly if you are working to support people to improve their lives in any way. It will help any organisation who is working on their learning and evaluations strategy.
What will I learn?
This will be a very practical webinar discussing examples of storytelling in Oxfordshire, the methodology of storytelling and how it can be applied in different contexts.
Facilitator
Sarah is the Inclusion Manager at Arts at the Old Fire Station (AOFS), an arts centre in Oxford which shares its building with the homeless charity Crisis and works to involve people with experience of homelessness in creative projects and the running of the centre. Part of Sarah’s role involves leading the organisation’s work around storytelling. Most recently, this has involved using the storytelling methodology to understand the impact of Oxford Together - Oxford’s community volunteer response to Covid-19. Sarah has experience working on creative projects with communities both in the UK and internationally, with a focus on using creativity to amplify voices and bring them into learning and decision-making processes.
As part of the presentation we will also hear from a story collector and storyteller involved in the Oxford Together storytelling project.
