‘Productivity in Oxfordshire – is there still room for improvement?’
Oxfordshire has a highly-productive economy. On a per-head basis, the output of the county’s workforce is in the top 20 per cent of all English regions (Office for National Statistics, Nomis and PwC analysis, 2017).
But can we boost it even further?
Key to productivity is the need to deliver and attract specialist and flexible skills at all levels – across all sectors – as required by our businesses. Encouraging innovation-led growth, that’s underpinned by our strengths in university research and development, business collaboration and supply chain potential, is also key.
And – as one of the best-performing economies in the UK, with a GVA of around £23billion a year – we as a county play a crucial role in boosting a national economy, its productivity as well as the need for it to be more globally-facing, post-Brexit.
Much of this is cited in the emerging Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy.
Join us at our next Q&A event, as we ask the question: ‘Productivity in Oxfordshire – is there still room for improvement?’
We are pleased to announce that the next in our series of quarterly Q&A events will take place on: Tuesday 9 July 2019 at the European Space Agency, Harwell Campus.
Once again, this event is a chance for Oxfordshire businesses to come together and discuss a key topic, tied-in to our growing economy, whilst hearing from a panel of top business leaders from across the county.
We are also pleased to announce that the Q&A will again be chaired by radio presenter Howard Bentham.
Panellists include:
- Nigel Tipple - Chief Executive, OxLEP
- Angus Horner - Director, Harwell Science & Innovation Campus
Further panellists to be announced in due course.
The full itinerary for this event will be:
- 8.15am: Registration and breakfast refreshments
- 8.45am: Q&A event begins
- 10.15am: Q&A event closes
We would advise the use of public transport to access this venue where possible – full details can be found on the Harwell Campus website.
